Cadence sniffled, buried in a pile of blankets as she drank some water. She had come down with something, so now she was miserably staying in her room while she waited for her sickness to pass.
She could feel her headache starting to come back, the human painkillers she took yesterday beginning to wear off.
She could always use some alien painkillers, but she decided she would stick with what she knew. Who knows how painkillers for humans made by aliens would do their job? She'll stick with the painkillers created for humans, by humans.
Her right ear twitched as she heard gentle knocking on her door, and she turned her head to the door and said, congested, "Who?"
"It's Sun," came Sun's voice through the door, "I brought you something to help you feel better."
Cadence's first thought was mashed potatoes, and she smiled as she replied, "Come in."
Sun walked in with a smile, holding a black thermos in his hands. She giggled at the sight, the bottle slightly dented on one side, where she had hit his head with it when they first met those years ago.
"You made me a hot drink?" She asked hopefully, sniffling as she tiredly looked at him. He nodded happily, uncapping the thermos and bringing it to her lips. She saw the liquid inside was a bright pink, glowing softly with small swirls of purple, and she quirked a brow curiously.
She took a small sip, the warm liquid oozing down her throat like sweet nectar, coating the back of her throat and easing the pain of being sick.
She hummed happily, content to let him hold the bottle as she drank it up. It reminded her of tangerines, sweet sweet tangerines. It was also slightly salty, and very sticky. She couldn't quite place where the consistency was, though it was slightly viscous, maybe like a smoothie or watery sap.
When she drank half the thermos, she gently grabbed the bottle, pulling it away from her lips as she licked them clean of the mystery liquid.
"Mm, this taste good, what is it?" She asked softly, her voice stronger now that it felt properly hydrated.
"I made it myself," was Sun's cryptic reply, his eyes watching her hungrily, his pupils dilated like a predator looking at their next victim.
"Is it your venom?" She asked curiously, not even registering the predatory look in his eyes, "It feels a lot creamier than your venom, though. The venom is more liquidy."F
Sun merely smiled, sitting next to her on the bed.
She curled up more in the blankets, gulping down the drink greedily, eyes closing happily as she exhaled happily. This shit's really good, delicious, yum yum.
She tilted her head all the way back, lightly licking the rim as she drained the bottle. She whined in complaint when she realized just the essence was left, the paltry remnants slowly dripping down the sides, far too slow for her liking.
She harumphed, lightly glaring at the couple drops still left.
Sun leaned closer, glancing between her face and her neck.
"I've never seen you sick aside from one time," Sun remarked, getting onto the bed next to her, "You must have a strong immune system! Or just well-vaccinated, or immune to a large portion of illnesses, or a mix of all three!" Sun giggled happily, his rays wiggling as his glow brightened for a moment.
"Eh, mostly the first two," Cadence replied, sticking her tongue out to try and lick out more of the liquid, sticking her chin in the thermos to reach deeper after adding, "Humans are actually surprisingly good at picking up most illnesses."
Sun tilted his head, fangs clicking out, then clicking in after a moment. "Interesting!" He chirped, fangs clicking out again, "No wonder your kind is seen as the sponge of the universe. So adaptable, so intelligent, so open-minded." He leaned towards her, gently grabbing her by the hips and pulling her onto his lap as he added in a murmur, "Usually."
He leaned in, nuzzling the back of her head as his hands slid around to cup her stomach, gently kneading the soft flesh as a teasing smirk grew on his face.
He nuzzled the side of her face, chuckling as he started murmuring into her ear, "So soft, so warm... So squishy..."
Cadence's eyes widened slightly, pausing in drinking from the obviously empty thermos as she slowly side-eyed Sun, who brushed his erect fangs against the soft skin of her neck.
"Remember the last time you were sick? When I tried to help by biting you and injecting my venom but you freaked out?" He purred, pressing his fangs into two small divots, which was a bite mark of his that has long since healed.
"Yeah, when we hadn't known each other for very long," Cadence chuckled, admitting defeat in her task to wring out more of the yummy substance from the thermos, bringing it down and upright, "And Moon got onto his hands and knees, almost literally, begging for me to not report you."
Sun hummed, bringing up a hand and trailing his hand along the opposite side of her jaw, slowly turning her face towards his. "Can I bite you?" He whispered huskily, "You were so quick to violence the last time."
Cadence giggled, tilting her head back and baring her neck. "The last time you tried biting me when I was sick was when I was still getting to know you!" She replied playfully, breath hitching slightly when his fangs pierced her skin and flexed, his bright pink venom oozing into her veins. Thankfully it didn't hurt.
Why didn't it hurt? Cadence had no clue. And because she didn't know, she decided she'd buy a book or something and research them in her free time.
It would be a bit embarrassing to reveal she still doesn't know that much about their species after literal years of knowing them, so she would amend that.
Couldn't be that hard, right? Humans have biology books about the human body, there's a Celestial Jester book somewhere in the universe.
Hopefully it isn't too expensive...
